It was a pleasure to work with West Walls Brewing Co. on this collaborationWe’ve finally released a limited number of bottles of STATE Demerara Rum, and here’s why it matters.

When we first opened West Walls in June 2024, we were handed something extraordinary - a bottle of Carlisle’s original State Management Demerara Rum.
One of very few still left in existence.

To put it into perspective - the last one to go to auction fetched £625. A reminder of just how significant (and rare) this small bit of Carlisle history really is.

We wanted to recreate the historic experience of this uniquely Carlisle spirit, with a rum people could actually drink, share and enjoy.

We worked extensively with Solway Spirits, tasting and refining until we landed on something that did the original justice:

Smooth. Warming. Rich with molasses, caramel & crème brûlée. A proper winter warming pour.

We’ve bottled just 52.

Individually numbered, small-batch and it might just never be repeated. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

So if you’ve got parents who grew up with the State Management story, or family members who love something with Carlisle heritage and character - this is probably the one for you.
